How long does it take to charge a BMW iX?

The BMW iX charging time varies depending on the model, battery capacity, and type of charging station used. The BMW iX comes in two battery configurations: the BMW iX xDrive40 has a 71 kWh usable battery capacity, while the BMW iX xDrive50 and iX M60 come with a 105 kWh usable capacity battery.

Using a standard AC charging station, the BMW iX can support a maximum power output of 11 kilowatts (kW), meaning it would take around 7 hours and 10 minutes to charge the BMW iX xDrive40 and 10 hours and 36 minutes to charge the BMW iX xDrive50 and M60 from 0 to 100 percent.

With a DC fast charging station, the BMW iX xDrive40 supports a maximum power of 148 kW, meaning it would take around 27 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent. The BMW iX xDrive50 and M60, on the other hand, have a maximum power capacity of 195 kW, meaning it would take approximately 30 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent.

How to charge a BMW iX?

There are multiple ways to charge a BMW iX. The cheapest and most convenient way is using a dedicated home EV charging station – this way, you simply plug your car in at night and wake up to a fully charged battery every time.

If you need to charge on the go, you can choose between regular AC charging stations and DC fast chargers. AC charging is widely available across most cities, with charging stations often located in common everyday destinations such as shops, restaurants, hotels, or offices. DC charging stations are usually found around highways and major roads and are perfect for a quick top-up, with many fast charging stations allowing you to fill up your battery in under an hour.
