International market leader in electric vehicle charging solutions is bringing its technology to the Nordic countries.

OSLO, Norway, January 30, 2017 – EV-Box, international market leader in electric vehicle charging solutions, is now expanding its operations to the Nordic region (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland).

EV-Box will be headed by a team with extensive experience in the electric mobility and renewable energy industries. The team will be based in Denmark and Norway. The latter is a leading country that recently reached a historical milestone of more than 100,000 fully-electric vehicles on the road.

Sweden is rapidly growing its importance in the EV community. Denmark and Finland have slower adoption rates, but their hopes in changing the current trend are high. EV-Box will bring its smart charging technology, hardware quality and uptime as differentiators, to gain traction and build its reputation within the Nordic region.

Nordic countries need to invest in smart charging infrastructure

“A reliable, smart and connected charging infrastructure is crucial for Norway to keep its leading position in the adoption of electric mobility.”, says Morten Rolighed Nielsen. Mr. Nielsen joined EV-Box as Business Development Director for the Nordic countries, after more than 5 years in leading positions in the EV charging technology and services industry. “Due to the early demand for EVs in Norway, most of the charging infrastructure was not thought through at the time, and does not have smart charging capabilities.”

“EV-Box will take a lead in upgrading the current infrastructure with new, more intelligent charging stations. These will not only benefit the electric vehicle driver, but also the property or facility owners. The same mindset and approach will be applied to Sweden, Denmark and Finland accordingly”, says Kristof Vereenooghe, EV-Box’s CEO.

Accelerating sustainable e-mobility

Founded in 2010, EV-Box has over 48,000 charging points in 26 countries. EV-Box has now built an end-to-end charging solution. This includes charging stations, as well as the software behind, charging cables, and various applications to leverage smart charging. All developed in-house. EV-Box Nordics will focus on providing smart technologies, such as load balancing, smart charging and peak shaving.

“We want EV-Box Nordics to be a fast-growing Business Unit, showcasing its excellence in building smart technology and services, while working with our local partners. Electric vehicles drivers and site owners need to upgrade their charging technology and ensure they are future-proof. The technology needs to be ready for the new energy market as well as future electric vehicles.” says Mr. Vereenooghe.

EV-Box Nordics official launch will take place at the Nordic EV Summit on February 7th and 8th, in Drammen, Norway.
