Who can apply?
You’re eligible to apply for the grant if you’re a registered business, charity or public sector organisation (evidenced by a Companies House Reference, VAT Registration Number or HMRC Registration Letter) located in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. You will have to be able to declare a need for EV charging equipment, or an intent to encourage uptake amongst staff and/or fleet. You must also have a dedicated off-street parking for your staff and/or fleet. In addition, you’ll need to either hold ownership over the property, or to have consent from the landlord(s) for the installation(s) listed in your application.

How can I apply?
- Step 1: Fill out the application form and send it to workplacechargingscheme@dvla.gsi.gov.uk.
- Step 2: If your eligibility is confirmed, you’ll receive a message with a unique voucher code in five working days. The voucher will be valid for four months (120 days). If the installation can’t be completed within this time frame, you’ll need to re-apply for a new voucher.
- Step 3: Redeem your voucher. You can only redeem your voucher with authorised installers. EVBox can put you in contact with our authorised installers.
- Step 4: The installer checks and submits the voucher. If everything’s verified, the installer will install the charging point(s) as agreed. The installer must provide evidence of the installation to OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles).
- Step 5: On receipt of the required evidence, OLEV makes a payment to the installer. OLEV aims to transfer the grant within thirty working days (starting from the grant claim being accepted). Your installer will claim the value of the voucher on your behalf. This value will then be deducted from your invoice.
When can I apply?
Whenever you think your workplace needs a charging port or when you’d like to encourage uptake amongst your staff and/or fleet. This grant is for new, yet to be installed charging ports only. The grant is not applicable for second-hand or previously installed charging ports. Please note, as there is a time restriction of four months for the voucher to be claimed against, it may be advisable to speak to one of our installers prior to applying for the voucher.
How do I know if my installation is standard or non-standard?
To get started, EVBox provides a recommendation via one of our experts prior to your installation. Then, our EVBox installation partner will conduct a site survey when they arrive on the day of your installation.
If your installation is non-standard installations you may incur an additional cost. Once your order is placed, we'll be in touch to better understand your requirements and produce a no-obligation quote for the additional works.
Is there a limit on the number of charging ports I can buy?
Yes, there is. There is a maximum of 40 charging ports across all the sites of your business, charity, or public sector organisation.
