As part of the stimulus plan, a budget of €100 million for 2022 has been earmarked to subsidise the installation of 440 ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles along France’s motorways and trunk roads.

To find out more about these subsidies and the eligibility criteria, see our article dedicated to the recovery plan.

Not all electric vehicles are compatible with direct current (DC) charging. You need to take a close look at the vehicle manufacturer’s data sheet.

Just because a vehicle is new doesn’t mean it’s compatible. For example, the electric Twingo is not compatible with DC charging. To find out more, see our article on the difference between alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC).

There are two types of charging point for electric vehicles: alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). When an electric vehicle is charging, the main difference between AC and DC charging is where the conversion between the two types of current takes place.

To find out more, see our article on the difference between alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC).
